Why Visit Vietnam?

Vietnam stretches around 1,600 km from the mountains in the north to the Mekong Delta in the south, and every region feels different. The north has Hanoi, Ha Long Bay and the rice terraces of Sapa. The centre has beaches and the lantern-lit old town of Hoi An. The south has busy Ho Chi Minh City and the rivers of the Mekong.

It's one of the best-value countries in Asia. Hotels, food and transport all cost little, and you often get more than you expect for your money. The food is fresh and packed with herbs.

Fly into one end and out of the other. In 7 to 10 days you can see the best of two or three regions.

Short domestic flights link the regions, so it's easy to travel down the country. Passion Tour And Holiday Service can plan your hotels, flights, cruises and e-Visa to suit your dates and budget, and Vietnam pairs well with Cambodia.

Travel Tips

Vietnam Travel Guide for Nepali Visitors

Prepare the essentials before departure and check current official requirements close to your travel date.

Entry and Visa

Nepali passport holders can apply for a Vietnam e-Visa online, usually valid for up to 90 days. You'll need a passport valid for at least 6 months and a passport photo. We can help you apply and confirm the latest rules before you travel.

Weather and Timing

The weather changes by region. The north is best from October to December and March to April, with cool winters in Hanoi and cold ones in Sapa. The centre is best from February to August, as September to November is typhoon season. The south is driest from December to April.

Dress and Culture

Cover your shoulders and knees at temples and pagodas. Vietnamese people value politeness, so stay calm and smile, even when bargaining.

Plugs and Packing

Vietnam uses Type A and C plugs at 220V, so Nepali round two-pin plugs usually fit. SIM cards are sold at the airport. Pack layers if you're visiting both the cool north and the hot south.

Food Tips

Most pho is beef, so ask for "pho ga" (chicken). Also try banh mi, banh xeo, fresh spring rolls, cao lau in Hoi An and iced ca phe sua da. Fish sauce goes into nearly everything, so look for "chay" restaurants, which are Buddhist and fully vegetarian. Indian restaurants are easy to find in Hanoi, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City, and street food is safe where you see lots of locals eating.
