Singapore is a small island city-state at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. Known as a garden city, it combines a famous skyline, world-class attractions, great hawker food and a mix of Chinese, Malay and Indian cultures, all a direct flight from Kathmandu.
Marina Bay, Singapore
Singapore is a small island nation you can cross by car in under an hour, yet it's packed with things to do. Glass skyscrapers stand next to traditional shophouses, giant Supertrees light up at night, and you're never far from a garden or park. It's one of the cleanest and safest cities in the world.
It's also one of the easiest family holidays in Asia. Everything works, public transport is simple to use, and there are plenty of attractions for children, from Universal Studios on Sentosa to the Night Safari. English is the main language, so getting around is easy.
Like Malaysia, Singapore mixes Chinese, Malay and Indian cultures, which you'll see in Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. Passion Tour And Holiday Service can plan your hotels, transfers, attraction tickets and visa, and Singapore pairs well with Malaysia for an easy week away.

Nepalis need a visa for Singapore, but you can't apply directly to the immigration department. The application must go through an authorised agent or a Singapore-based sponsor, and we can apply for you. All visitors also complete the online SG Arrival Card before landing.
Singapore is hot and humid all year, around 25 to 32°C, and you can visit any month. February to April is usually the driest. November to January brings more rain, but also Christmas lights and year-end sales.
Cards and tap-to-pay work almost everywhere, including many hawker stalls. Prices are higher than in Malaysia or Thailand, but hawker food keeps costs down. The MRT is clean and fast, and you can tap your Visa or Mastercard at the gates. Grab and taxis are easy too.
Singapore is strict. There are fines for littering, eating or drinking on the MRT, smoking outside marked areas and jaywalking, and selling chewing gum is banned.
Singapore uses Type G plugs (three square pins) at 230V, so bring an adaptor. Tourist SIM cards are sold at Changi Airport. Pack light clothes, an umbrella and a light layer for the strong indoor air conditioning.
Hawker centres are the best value, with Maxwell, Lau Pa Sat and Newton good places to start. Tekka Centre in Little India has lots of vegetarian Indian food. If you see a packet of tissues on a table, someone has already reserved that seat.
