Cambodia is a Southeast Asian kingdom bordered by Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. It is home to Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, along with the riverside capital of Phnom Penh, the Tonlé Sap lake and quiet islands in the Gulf of Thailand.

Why Visit Cambodia?

Angkor Wat was built in the 12th century as a Hindu temple to Vishnu and later became a Buddhist site. For Nepali travellers, walking through Angkor feels like stepping into stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, which are carved into its walls.

Most Cambodia holidays begin in Siem Reap, a relaxed town with night markets and great food, with two or three days for the temples. Many travellers then add Phnom Penh, where the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers meet, or a few days on the south coast. A four-to-six-day itinerary covers the highlights comfortably.

From sunrise over Angkor Wat to sunset on the Mekong, Cambodia is full of moments you won't forget.

Passion Tour And Holiday Service can help travellers from Nepal plan accommodation, sightseeing and transport to suit their dates, interests and budget, and Cambodia also pairs well with Thailand or Vietnam.

Travel Tips

Cambodia Travel Guide for Nepali Visitors

Prepare the essentials before departure and check current official requirements close to your travel date.

Entry and Visa

Nepali passport holders can usually get a 30-day tourist visa on arrival or apply for an e-Visa in advance. All visitors must also complete Cambodia's online e-Arrival card before arriving. Rules can change, so we confirm the current requirements when you book.

Weather and Timing

Cambodia is hot all year, around 25 to 35°C. November to March is the coolest and driest time and the best season for the temples. April and May are very hot, while June to October brings afternoon rain, fewer visitors and green scenery.

Money and Currency

US dollars are used everywhere alongside the Cambodian riel, and change is usually given in riel. Bring clean, undamaged dollar notes, as torn or marked ones are often refused.

Getting Around

Tuk-tuks are the easiest way to get around towns and temples, and the PassApp and Grab apps give fair prices. Between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh you can fly or drive, about six hours by road.

Local Customs

Cover your shoulders and knees at Angkor, which is strictly enforced at the upper levels of the temples. Women should not touch monks. Pack a hat, sun cream and comfortable walking shoes.

Food Tips

Many dishes contain fish sauce or prahok (fermented fish paste), so vegetarians should check before ordering. Siem Reap and Phnom Penh have plenty of Indian and vegetarian restaurants, and Khmer food is milder than Thai food.
